2007: An excellent year for the ATS International Steelmaking Conference

With an attendance up to 713 - the best participation since 1997 - the International Steelmaking Conference organized by the “Association Technique de la Sidérurgie française” (ATS), department of “Fédération Française de l’Acier” (French Steel Federation, FFA) was a real success.

The delegates to this conference originated from 36 different countries; the largest delegations coming from France (47% of the delegates), Benelux, Germany, Brazil, Korea, and the United Kingdom.

128 papers were presented during twenty sessions

Four special sessions, devoted to the Physical Chemistry of Steelmaking, had been set up in partnership with the Société Française de Métallurgie et de Matériaux (SF2M). Another session on Steel Use was co-organized with the Office Technique pour l’Utilisation de l’Acier (OTUA). 23% of the papers were presented by French steelmakers.

The exhibition provided some 26 industrial companies with great opportunities to meet their partners and prospects.

Over 100 distinguished guests joined the delegates on the occasion of the Official Session, honoured with the addresses of Malay MUKHERJEE (Member of the Group Management Board ArcelorMittal, Responsible for Asia, Africa, Stainless, Mining, Technology) and of Philippe DARMAYAN (Chairman of FFA).
